The idea behind our edit

Founded by Chhavi Rastogi, The Indo Edit brings together a personal connection to northern India’s textile traditions and a thoughtful selection for everyday living in Germany. Hand block printing, natural fabric textures and patterns that bring colour to a modern home are at the heart of our selection.

We choose our collections for their materials, colours and practical details. A throw should make a favourite chair more inviting, table linen should accompany shared meals, and a bag should be a pleasure to use. Our “edit” is this considered selection.

Hand block printing: patterns with character

In traditional hand block printing, carved wooden blocks are used to apply a pattern to fabric by hand. Individual impressions come together as floral motifs, trailing vines and other designs. Small differences in colour and placement give the work its character.

This printing technique is central to The Indo Edit: from cotton sofa throws and table linen to printed bags. One patterned piece can bring interest to a quiet room; a few complementary textiles can help make a space feel your own.

Our connection to the textile crafts of northern India, particularly Jaipur and the surrounding region, shapes our appreciation of these patterns and their details.
